Geolocate your Myspace visitors with MixMap

Mixmap for MyspaceUpdate for October 13, 2006 (12:35 pm pst): Things have been quiet around here for a while; which means things must be running smoothly over at Mixmap!

Wanna see where your Myspace visitors are coming from, graphically? ...I do! Bring it on!

MixMap does just that, and a little more. It graphically pinpoints (via a Yahoo/Google'esque map and an IP address) where your Myspace profile visitors are roughly coming from. You'll get to see things like, location, time, and number of visits.

What you won't see (yeah, here it comes) is their detailed Myspace profile information; which, according to MixMap, is a Myspace no-no. MixMap covers all this on their tips page so give it a quick read before signing up.

Among other things, you are also given the option of creating a private map (viewable only to you) or a public map (err...viewable to everyone).

Be aware that most of the information you enter becomes publicly viewable in the MixMap online community.

I only used it briefly, but overall I like it. Could be fun.

I agree with the above comments and it looks like MixMap stopped working on September 2nd. I really miss the thing and I liked the fact that it wasn't on my profile page but somewhere else where I could check on it, that is a feature I would like to keep.

Ugh..once again Mixmap is down. It had been working yesterday and PART of today. Then..boom..sorry can't find page.. WTH is up with this? Are they having server issues or what? If they have so much traffic they should be doing something about that mess before someone else comes up with THEIR idea and does a better job at keeping their site kept up. I'd like to see another site take up what Mixmap is doing. I like everything they have to offer...other than their constant downtime...grrr!!!!!!

I LOVE mixmap, I'm enjoying watchng my ex obsess on my page! Plus the guy who made the mixmap is very cute : )lol. I sure wish it would stay up. I assume they are working on it so we all have to have patience. But yes I wish there was something else for now that tracks my visitors on a map, especially by their location!
The first time it went down I had a full blown panic attack! lol. Please hurry guys.

I WAS thinking about going with Trakzor. BUT, I don't want anyone to know I'm tracking them. So, for now I'll stick with waiting for mixmap..unless trakzor comes up with a hidden code we can use. Mixmap still down now. It's never been down for this long. Unreal. :(

Sorry that MixMap has been down so much lately. I am pretty much responsible for the mess and I have been trying to fix things so that the server is more stable. I was away from an internet connection for quite a while, but I should be online more often now to monitor it. It has been up for the past couple of days now since I have been keeping an eye on it.

Hey! Mixmap has been working for almost a week now...KNOCK ON WOOD! Hell, if they charged for this service I'd pay! As long as down time is kept to an absolute minimum of course. Woo Hoo, no more panic attacks...for now. LOL!

I wanna know why it keeps showing Herndon VA every time I visit myspace site. And I live in Alabama. Making me and others think the Govt is watching..lol
But of course not. ;)

Explanation Please?

It says "Herndon VA" because the technology that looks up where you live based on your IP address isn't perfect. It got you wrong (are you using AOL?). I would guess it works prety well 95% of the time though.

Wow, first time in two weeks Mixmap is down. At least this time they have a message saying that it's under maintenance. We'll see how long this lasts..lol!

For me, Mixmap is dead on with all my visitors. You might want to check your code. Or just go ahead and redo the code. Sometimes, if you're updating your background or adding graphics you can knock out some of the code. Which renders the code useless. Try that and see if it works.

Leja -- Thanks for the kind words about MixMap.

All -- Sorry that MixMap had some downtime back in September and then again on the 5th of October.

On the 5th of October, I started the process of fixing the database. It took me over 24 hours to fix it, but the database is indeed fixed and the site should be very, very stable now.

Please let me know about any problems you have here: http://www.mixmap.com/feedback.php

Thanks,
Matt

Reply to/about "herndon va".

It used to say the right place...where I do live. Herndon VA showed up on lots of people's myspace sites about the same time it did mine. But after a while, it began to show my visits to my own page as Herndon VA. This was not just happening to me. And it was not just from my ip. Since I saw in the news where the 9th grader was harrassed by secret service for her myspace site with antibush remarks, it makes a bit more sense now tho.

Wow ya'll! Mixmap has some GREAT updates! You can view your past map history, and when you hover your mouse over the bars it tells you the exact many views for that day! They have ads on their pages now..HOWEVER, I'm not going to complain too much, especially since they offer a FREE HIDDEN CODE that no one else offers unless you pay. And hey, they've been pretty stable lately too! Can't beat that! (no more panic attacks...woo-hoo!)

HERNDON VA AGAIN...

The same thing is happening. It says my location now...correct city...but when I click on the IP address...it says its coming from Herndon VA. This also happens to a few other people. I would like to know why if someone could tell me.
